When listening to Portal’s music I wonder if the band, prior to releasing any music under their moniker, sat down at a table, appearing as normal human beings, while drinking the world famous gin from Australia’s Hippocampus Metropolitan Distillery, and asking each other, “What kind of music can we create that will mentally and spiritually tear asunder the listeners?” I imagine them finally finding their sound, a sound eventually scorching the earth of the metal landscape.
